save crash clark

Saturday, December 3rd, 2005

I just read about Crash Clark getting canned at Susquehanna, parent company of 99x and Q100. Crash is the traffic reporter for both radio stations and has been in trouble numerous times with his bosses for stunts that he’s pulled, but this stunt was too much for them.

On Dec. 1st, Crash was canned for an act that occured on Sat. Nov. 26th at Jack Rabbit Lounge. He was giving away 311 concert tickets to listeners and a woman came up to him and told him that she’d “do anything” to get some tickets to the show. So Crash told her to do something in a “Monica Lewinsky sorta way” to another random 99x listener, and she did, and he gave her the tickets.

A website has started up to try to save crash’s job and it’s already getting some press attention. The website is www.savecrash.org if you want to check it out. It’s already received 60,000 hits in two days!

I’m not sure whether he’ll get his job back, but I think it wasn’t wrong for him to do what he did. She chose to do what she did herself and the act wasn’t performed on Crash, so he received no personal gain from it……but obviously more conservative minds have prevailed at Susquehanna.

News updates

First off, this week started off the ScreenSavers with a couple repeat episodes, so I will wait until they get back to regular airings to begin my little observations.

On CNet’s website they have a story about our favorite music download service allofmp3.com. In case you haven’t heard ofallofmp3.com, it is a site based in Russia that allows it’s users to download ‘legal’ songs for a price of $.02 per megabyte. The site allows you to choose the bitrate so that you can have the quality you desire and you pay the same rate whatever bitrate you choose. So the average song costs anywhere from $.04 to $.10 depending on the quality. This is a much cheaper option than most online stores in the U.S. offering songs for $.99 a song.

The question has always been out there as to whether downloading these songs were legal or not. Well, apparently it isn’t illegal. The site which features the broadest range of music online for ‘legal’ downloads include such artists as The Beatles which have not allowed online downloading of their music yet. The Moscow City Police have recommended to the city prosecutor that they should press charges of copyright infringment. So if you want your cheap mp3′s you need to get them soon before they get shut down, which seems inevitable.

A company has begun a new idea in dating, purchasing time with an attractive woman(women) to help you meet more women. The idea comes from wingwomen.com, a site which allows you to book time with one or multiple women to go out to clubs or bars to help you meet other women. Their idea is pretty simple. Women want what they can’t have, and when a woman sees a man with a couple other women having a good time, then she believes there must be something really good about that guy and that maybe she should give that guy a chance. So far, this is a new venture in New York City and they are currently looking at expanding into other cities. The company charges $50 per hour per woman.
